intro Behind the Lens: meet Mathieu
    BONNARIC
An insight into the journey that shaped my way of seeing, connecting, and telling stories through wedding photography.
roots Roots & Beginnings Before picking up a camera, I was already building images.
As a teenager, I explored Photoshop as a creative playground, experimenting with collage, composition, and visual storytelling.
Looking back, I realise I wasn’t learning how to edit images, but how to see them.
art as translation Meaning & Connection Learning how images speak also meant learning how people express themselves.
Through communication studies and visual language, I became deeply attentive to nuance, intention, and emotion.
This sensitivity still guides the way I photograph today.
early works Telling What is Real Photojournalism taught me to stay close to reality.
During my Master degree abroad in Denmark, I learned to observe without interfering, to tell stories as they unfold, without staging or distortion. It shaped my relationship to photography: honest, attentive, and deeply rooted in real life.
breaking through Light & Trust Working in the studio taught me how to shape light, and how to build trust.
Under artificial lights and flashes, I learned to guide people who had never been photographed before, helping them feel confident, relaxed, and truly themselves.
This balance between direction and ease became essential to my work.
turning point Where It All Comes Together Wedding photography felt like a natural continuation.
It brings together everything that shaped my work: observation, empathy, light, and storytelling.
Documentary moments, guided portraits, and real emotions coexist in a space where authenticity matters more than performance.
signature style Being there, Fully Today, my approach is guided by presence and empathy.
I adapt to the rhythm of each wedding, knowing when to step back and let moments unfold, and when to step in and gently guide.
My role is to create space, for connection, for emotion and for images that feel real.
beyond the canvas Current Voice Today, my work lives between documentary truth and editorial intention.
I photograph weddings as they are felt: instinctive, layered, imperfect, and deeply human. Always guided by empathy, light, and the quiet understanding that the most powerful images are lived before they are captured.
current voice Moments, as they unfolded. Time slows down just enough to let emotion surface.
The image emerges from presence, restraint, and a precise sense of timing.
recognition A Global Sensibility Working with couples from around the world has refined my way of seeing.
Each story adds nuance to a visual language shaped by culture, place, and emotion.
story continues The Story Continues All these paths now converge in wedding photography.
A space where emotion, intention, and lived moments naturally meet.

    About Work Contact Mathieu Bonnaric

    Effortlessness is never accidental.

It is studied, refined, and then allowed to appear natural.
In my work, elegance is not about perfection.
It is about restraint, rhythm, and the quiet confidence of people who feel entirely themselves.
Sprezzatura is not a style. It is a posture.
A way of moving through the day with intention that never feels forced.

    Slide 1. Provence adopted
Moving to Provence while turning photography into my full-time path felt natural. The light here is warm, textured, sometimes raw, exactly the kind of atmosphere I’m drawn to. That effortless southern ease has quietly shaped the way I see.
    2. City & Wild
I recharge in two opposite ways: wandering through exhibitions and cinemas, or heading into the mountains for trail and snowboarding.
City energy and open landscapes keep me balanced.
    3. Pushing Limits
I’ve always been drawn to paths that take time to build. Making a living from photography, like training in trail running with the goal of one day completing an ultra, requires patience, discipline, and a certain kind of persistence.
Nothing is instant, everything is built step by step.
    Slide 1. Megane
What started as a simple swipe became a seven-year partnership and a wedding built on art, cinema, humor, and ambition. Today, she leads weddings with the same precision I bring to imagery and we grow, create, and build side by side.
    3. Creative Roots
I come from communication and visual storytelling; she from event design and production.
Living from our passions was never a gamble, it was a natural continuation of who we already were.
    2. Partnership
Working in the same room, sometimes on the same weddings, we challenge and elevate each other daily.
Our shared eye and instinct turn collaboration into something instinctive, fluid, and deeply aligned.
    4. Shared Vision
Beyond the work, it is the shared references: cinema, aesthetics, sharp humor that shape our world.
Every project we touch carries that dialogue between us, refined over time and trust.
    Slide Cook's
After my wife and our soon-to-arrive daughter, there’s Cookie, my dog, who follows me everywhere outside of work.
From swims and trail runs to simply watching me eat with those unmistakable cocker eyes, she's always close by.
    1. Meaningful Places
L’Inde a transformé mon regard par sa brutalité et sa lumière. La Bolivie est le lieu où j’ai fait ma demande, sous un ciel infini à 4 000 mètres d’altitude.
    2. Editorial roots
My years in communication and graphic design continue to influence the way I build images — and the editorial covers I create for my couples. See some of them by clicking here.

    Beyond the Story

    THE EXPERIENCE

Now that you know a little more about me, the real question is how this translates into your wedding day.
How do preparation, intuition, and direction come together in real moments?
How does empathy shape the atmosphere?
    How does intention remain invisible?
If you would like to understand how I structure a wedding day and what it feels like to work together, you can explore the Experience page.

    BEYOND THE WEDDING DAY

    COVER STORIES

Rooted in photojournalism, shaped by editorial design, and deeply influenced by the language of cinema and visual storytelling.

Before becoming a wedding photographer, I studied photojournalism and graphic design.
Those years shaped the way I see stories.
Photojournalism taught me to observe with honesty.
Graphic design trained my eye for structure, typography, and visual rhythm.
Over time, those foundations naturally led me toward editorial aesthetics and a deep love for cinema. Today, I approach each wedding as a standalone piece, not just a gallery but a visual narrative.
That is why I create custom film-inspired covers and editorial layouts for my couples.
Each one is designed as a unique object, crafted to reflect their personality, their atmosphere, their story.
More than photographs, I believe in giving form to memories.

There was something about the Colombian energy tha There was something about the Colombian energy that night.

After hours of shooting, you’d think the battery would be gone. Somehow, it’s the opposite. The louder the room gets, the more people let go, the more energy I get back from them.
And once the night takes over, photography changes too. Flash becomes part of the dance. I move it around the room, follow gestures, bodies, rhythms, and let each person dictate where the light should fall.
That’s probably why I love this part of a wedding so much.

A quiet end to their journey through France, just A quiet end to their journey through France, just weeks before becoming three.
Soft light, warm stone, long shadows and a few slow moments at @capelongue .
Nothing complicated. Just them, Provence, and this little pause before everything changes.
My favourite photographs are rarely the ones that My favourite photographs are rarely the ones that explain or show everything.
They're the ones that whisper. The ones where you feel more than you see.
The ones that leave something unsaid.
Photography, at its best, becomes about translating a feeling.
